Making organic electronics sustainable
The organic electronic industry has reached a critical stage, presenting a unique opportunity to shape the future of this rapidly advancing field. Despite comprising a very small fraction (0.02 wt% of the entire mass in the case study), organic materials can still have a significant impact on the total carbon footprint of the device. Therefore the importance of designing built-in sustainability into materials selection, processing, and device architectures should not be underestimated. A collective perspective on ‘Sustainability Considerations for Organic Electronic Products’ was published by Nature Materials.
