Stability is one of the most important challenges facing material research for organic solar cells on their path to further commercialization. Our recent article in Nature Communications focuses on degradation mechanisms of inverted photovoltaic devices in the high-performance material system PM6:Y6. In cooperation with the colleagues from Chemnitz and Dresden Universities we show that despite the most stable material properties, the formation of trap states upon thermal degradation with their impact on non-radiative recombination and transport limitations remain the key issue to be addressed for improving the state-of-the-art organic solar cells stability
