i-MEET has recently been granted a new research project called CESSY, which focuses on the development hybrid solar collectors which combine photovoltaic power generation with solar thermal hot water generation. Thereby, these devices have the potential of not only increasing the overall energy efficiency and of generating also an economic benefit. However, nowadays these devices are usually optimized with respect to only one of the tow technologies. In CESSY, i-MEET strives, together with an SME partner, which is specialized in thermal engineering, for developing a system which is optimized with respect to both its overall energy and economic efficiency.
CESSY is funded by the ZIM initiative (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and will run throughout October 2019.
